Leadership
Jon Eagle Sr., is Hunkpapa Lakota from the Standing
Rock Sioux Tribe and currently lives in Fort Yates, ND
with his wife and family. During his career, he has
served on numerous tribal, state and national advisory
councils.
In 2005, Mr. Eagle was asked to serve as faculty for the
National Leadership Academies in Sante Fe, New
Mexico. The Academies were hosted by the Center for
Child and Human Development, Georgetown University
and the Center for Mental Health Services, Washington,
DC. He has had many leadership opportunities at tribal,
state and national levels.
Woitancan
In 1997, World War II, Korean Conflict and Vietnam
War veterans gave Jon the responsibility of being drum
keeper for the Lakota/Dakota Akicita Okolakiciye
(Soldiers Society). Three years later, In 2000, Isaac Dog
Eagle, Sundance Leader/Spiritual Advisor asked him to
be one of twelve Wokicuze (One Who Decides For
Them) at Sitting Bull's Camp Sundance. In 2008, while
attending the annual Flag Day Celebration in Cannon
Ball, North Dakota, Jon was escorted to the center by
veterans and gifted with a war bonnet. He was told that
he had to live up to the Eagle feathers he was wearing.

LEADERSHIP training is designed to help you to
become an agent of change.
Specific Learning Objectives:
1. Participants will learn to recognize their capacity to
lead.
2. Participants will develop strategies to sustain
themselves as leaders in chaotic, difficult and challenging
environments.
3. Participants will gain an understanding of the
importance of developing positive relationships.
4. Participants will gain an understanding of the
sacredness of their voice.
